Fasting

FASTING!

I have had so many questions on this subject. Fasting has so many health benefits from increases cell waste removal (cell autophagy) to cancer cell inhibition to fat loss and increased protein synthesis (muscle building).

I am now in full on GET LEAN mode. Most of the foods I am eating now are the same except I am eating smaller quantities. Many of you are aware that I am a huge supporter of regular fasting for health, to increase protein synthesis (great for muscle building), boosting growth hormone levels (awesome for fat loss) and for increased catecholamine production (ENERGY). One of the most effective ways I have utilized fasting is to do full on 18-24 hour fasts 2-3 days a week. Its extremely effective. I get SO MANY QUESTIONS regarding fasting....which is why the MindPump team will be soon releasing a NUTRITION FASTING GUIDE which will answer all the questions you may have regarding fasting. It will set you up to PROPERLY utilize this powerful and healthy technique for yourself. Stay tuned...

In order to maximize exercise performance I supplement with some carbs and amino acids pre and during workout and I add a post workout shake. My only real meal is at dinner time which I have after work as early as 6pm or as late as 8pm. If you are a healthy individual try fasting for 10-14 hours. This accelerates the fat burning process, dramatically increases your cells waste removal process, stabilizes blood sugar, reduces inflammation and odds of cancer, increases cognitive performance, primes the muscles for increased protein synthesis, increases vasodilation, and even reduces sugar cravings. Those benefits are all backed by several scientific studies..many done on ATHLETES. Be open minded and read up for yourself...the old "small meals all day, take protein all the time, eat our bars and powders" paradigm is proving to be nothing more than clever marketing. If you are a healthy individual with a normal relationship with food fasting may be perfect for you.

Here is what I like to call a "personal trainer beer." Take some San Pellegrino...put some lime in it and sprinkle sea salt on the rim. BOOM!!! Tastes good and if you pretend hard enough it reminds you of a beer...you gotta pretend super hard though
